Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate the relationships among social support, family function and burden of care among family caregivers of elders who went through hip-surgery.

Method: A convenient sample of 100 family caregivers of elders who went through hip fracture from H hospital in Seoul was used. Data collection took place from November 11, 2015 to Febuary 1, 2016. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA and post-hoc analysis of Tukey HSD, and Pearson correlation analysis were carried out for data analysis.

Result: Social support and family function showed a statistically significant positive correlation (r=.598, p<.001). Social support and care burden were not correlated. However, sub-factors of social support, the emotional support were negatively correlated with the total scores of the burden of care.

Conclusion: Based on the findings, a tailored program to decrease the care burden of family caregivers of elders who experience hip fracture could be developed.
